A woman came forward late Friday and confirmed that she had an intimate romantic relationship with the husband of missing California substitute teacher Laci Peterson.

Amber Frey (left), 28, said she was introduced to Scott Peterson in November and was told he was single, information he confirmed with her that she now knows was false.

"Scott told me he was not married," Frey said. " We did have a romantic relationship. When I discovered he was involved in the Laci Peterson disappearance case, I immediately contacted the Modesto (Calif.) Police Department."

At the press conference, Modesto police commended Frey for coming forward and said she is not a suspect in the case.

Fighting back tears, Frey expressed her sympathy to Laci Peterson's family and said "I pray for her safe return."

Frey also said she would not comment further, for fear of jeopardizing the investigation.

Missing Calif. Woman's Brother Can't 'Stand By' Husband

The brother of a missing pregnant California woman says he can no longer stand by her husband.

Addressing a group of reporters Friday in Modesto, Brent Rocha said Scott Peterson has failed to answer too many questions about the disappearance of Laci Peterson (pictured, right), who disappeared on Christmas Eve, when she was about eight months pregnant.

"I would like Scott to know I trusted him and stood by him in the initial phases of my sister's disappearance," Rocha said. "However, Scott has not been forthcoming with information regarding my sister's disappearance, and I'm only left to question what else he may be hiding."

On the one-month anniversary of his sister's disappearance, Rocha tearfully urged his brother-in-law to cooperate fully with police. Scott Peterson has not been labeled a suspect in the disappearance, but police say they have not ruled out that possibility.

Rocha also said Scott Peterson admitted by phone on Jan. 16 that he was having an affair with a Fresno, Calif., woman. Rocha said that he confronted his brother-in-law about the affair after seeing pictures of the two together.

Laci Peterson was last seen on Christmas Eve, taking her dog for a walk. Her husband has told police he was out fishing in a nearby marina at the time.

Scott Peterson has reportedly declined to take lie detector tests and has retained a criminal defense attorney in Modesto.
